The BWA Jakarta has been offering friendship and support for women living in Jakarta since 1970 and has members from all over the UK and many other nations too (you don’t have to be British to join).

We have a home in Kemang where members can meet for coffee and a snack, come to one of the many organized activities; quiz nights, coffee mornings, borrow magazines or books, or buy bits’n pieces from the small shop.

If you are new to Jakarta we can offer support and information to help you settle into your new home, and if you are a veteran Jakartite we can still get you involved in many activities with like minded people.

Message from our Chairwoman, Morag Kriaras

Welcome to the British Women’s Association (BWA) of Jakarta.

BWA is a non-profit making organization which was established on May 4th 1970 to offer support and friendship to women living in Jakarta.

BWA is open to all nationalities, and at our house in Kemang we offer our members a variety of daily activities and clubs, weekly coffee mornings, lunches, quiz and social nights and so much more. In addition BWA raises significant funds to support local charities through an annual Fashion Show, biannual bazaars and other social events.

While the Main Committee takes care of the day to day running of the house and activities as well as organizing the fundraising events to support our charity group we also have a Newcomers Team to help you when you first move to Jakarta. When you feel at home and want to get more involved in BWA we have a very active Social Welfare Group supporting a variety of local charities and also an excellent BWA magazine- Grapevine who are always on the lookout for interesting articles

BWA HOUSE
We have a house in Kemang where most of our daily activities and social evenings take place. The house is open to members on weekdays from 9 am so why not join one of our social activities, drop by for coffee, lunch, use our wireless internet, borrow a book from our extensive library or even have a swim?

MONDAY COFFEE MEETINGS
On the first Monday of every month from 10am we have our Monthly Coffee Morning with a guest speaker; excellent company and a light snack- so why not join us for one of these fun mornings? On all other Mondays we have an informal coffee morning- just drop in for a coffee and a chat.

Now at BWA house we also offer a light lunch menu as well as selection of cakes to eat in or take away.

SOCIAL WELFARE GROUP
BWA is a charitable organization that tries to make a difference. At present our social welfare group supports 12 charities on a regular monthly basis- focusing mainly on education, health, children, the elderly and disabled. In addition we also support one-off and emergency relief projects.

GRAPEVINE NEWSLETTER
We are very proud of our highly professional Grapevine Newsletter. We currently publish 10 magazines a year which is free to members. As well as interesting articles on a huge variety of subjects written mainly by our members, Grapevine also contains information on upcoming events as well as featuring articles on all our Loyal Society social events and BWA evenings- with lots of colour photographs.
